Call for Proposals Extended to August 31

Presentation proposals for the 2017 Patch Burn Grazing Working Group Meeting in Joplin, MO have been extended to August 31, 2017. There is still room for additional presentations if you would like to share your work.

Tentative Schedule

Tuesday, September 19

8:30am Registration, Wildcat Glades Audubon Nature Center, Joplin.

9:00am Welcome

9:25am Presentations

11:25am Lunch (On-site)

12:30am Field Trip, Shawnee Trail Conservation Area We will tour patch burn grazed native prairie and prairie reconstruction plantings managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Participants car pool to the field trip.

6:00pm Dinner on the Prairie, Beef certified by the National Audubon Society's Audubon Conservation Ranching Program produced on Missouri farms that provide good grassland bird habitat. This new Audubon program is being piloted in several states and seeks to reward cooperators who voluntarily improve bird habitat on their land with a premium retail price. Meal provided by MDC and grilled by the Barton County Cattlemen's Association. Short presentation during the dinner.
